I had a dinner at home the other day for some Portuguese friends. Since I didn't have much time to spend in the kitchen, I decided to make some easy and tasty appetizers. I give you some ideas below...
- Queso.
- Cheese. I took out a piece of typical Portuguese cheese I had in the freezer. It's known as "Queijo da serra" (goat cheese) for those of you who like strong flavors. You can use any type of cheese you like.
- Sweet cheese. I used a package of cream cheese (look for the generic brand in your supermarket) and covered it with a jar of a Peruvian preserve I had in my pantry, "aguaymanto preserve". You can use any preserve you like.
- Put some mini toasts in a bread basket to accompany the cheeses.
- Potato chips with sauces. Since my guests were a family with children, I put a hot sauce (Peruvian chili sauce) on one side and golf sauce (a mix of ketchup and mayonnaise) on the other side.
The appetizers were a hit! My guests loved them. :)
